King Ostarion built his kingdom from the bones of his enemies, thinking that as long as he kept building, he couldn't die. But bone can perish, and he needed a better plan. He got obsessed with wraith energy, a kind of pure spirit given off by dark souls at death. He figured if he could infuse himself with that, he'd be eternal. So on Wraith-Night, he had his subjects harvest a ton of souls, and when the sun rose, the Wraith King was born. He doesn't sit on his throne much anymore; he's out with his sword, demanding fealty that even death can't end.
