Purist Thunderwrath had a crisis of faith. He'd been a knight his whole life, sworn to the Omniscience, the All Seeing One, and raised under elder knights. He fought in the crusade with youthful valor until the losses piled up: his elders buried in muddy graves, his bond-brothers killed by creatures that wouldn't bow, his squires dying from ambush, plague, and bad water. He started to wonder what his vows really meant. He left the army and trekked to the cliffs of Emauracus, where he challenged the priests. They tried to throw him into the sacrifice pit, but he glowed with holy light, and they realized the Omniscience had chosen him. The Elder Hierophant led him down into a deep chamber where the Omniscience itself waited. It wasn't an abstract concept or a relic; it was a real old one. The Omniscience said it had created the world, forming the planet's crust as armor against space terrors. Purist had no reason to doubt after what else was revealed. Maybe the Omniscience lies, but Omniknight never questioned again. His fight had purpose, and the power he wields is undeniably real.
