Some knights answer to a code, to a king, or to a god. Sven answers to no one but himself. A rogue knight with a storied past and a heavy blade, he walks a path that is entirely his own. But that path began in disgrace: the illegitimate son of a Vigil Knight and a Pallid Meranth, raised among the ruins of Shadeshore. His father paid for his transgression with his life, and his mother, shunned by her own kind, died a slow death that Sven tended to with his own hands. In the wake of that loss, he made a decision that would shape his future. He hid his identity and joined the Vigil Knights, the very order that had executed his father, to learn their ways from the inside. For thirteen years he studied their rigid code, a code that would have declared his own existence a crime. Then, on the day he was to be sworn in, he broke with them forever. He took the Outcast Blade, shattered the Sacred Helm, and burned their Codex in the Holy Flame before walking out of Vigil Keep. Now he wanders the world, a knight in all but allegiance, living by a private set of rules that no one else can dictate.
